Reflections on My Second Seminar: AI in Research and Teaching

On 2 July 2025, I had the pleasure of delivering my second seminar in the “AI in Architecture” series, titled “AI in Architecture: Foundations in Research & Teaching”. The event was organized by the Department of Architecture, and I was especially grateful for the kind invitation and participation of our colleagues from the Department of Interior Architecture.

In this session, I aimed to create a space for critical reflection rather than simply delivering a lecture. I invited participants to explore how AI is reshaping the landscape of architectural research and pedagogy. Together, we examined the opportunities AI offers—such as enhanced data analysis and new modes of knowledge production—as well as the challenges it presents, including ethical concerns, over-reliance, and questions around authorship and originality.

My goal was to encourage an open dialogue around how we, as educators and researchers, can approach these tools not just as technological add-ons, but as elements that require thoughtful integration into our academic practices. As always, I was inspired by the engagement and insights of my colleagues, and I look forward to continuing this conversation in future sessions—especially with our students.
