At the 10th anniversary of its Urban Design Graduate Program (MSc in Urban Design), EMU Department of Architecture is organizing an international virtual conference in collaboration with EMU Urban Research and Development Center (URDC). This international virtual conference, to be organised on 9-11 December 2020  is dedicated to ‘Young Researchers Forum@Re-Discovering Urban Design’ will include presentations related to ongoing and/or completed doctoral and/or master’s research and/or post-doctoral research on urban design, with the aim to provide overarching views on urban design education and research. The International Urban Design Conference to be designed as ‘Young Researchers Forum’ will offer a rich discussion platform for all participants to present and share their research with senior mentors in urban design research, including but not limited to the following themes:

• Urban Design Theory
• Urban Design Education
• Urban Regeneration
• Urban Conservation & Revitalization
• Urban Culture
• Urban Planning
• Urban Landscape
• Urban Morphology
• Urban Housing
• Urban Representations
• Urban Image & Identity
• Urban Public Space
• Urban Strategies
• Urban Sustainability & Sustainable Urban Design
• Urban Sociology
• Urban & Environmental Psychology 

and to exchange of knowledge in the field or urban design, which may then lead to development of networks and future collaborations for young researchers, both with senior researchers and / or with other graduate students.

The conference will be distributed to three days depending on the number of submissions. Since the presentations and discussion sessions will be online, we will prefer to have two-three presentations for each session, which will all be distributed to specific days and times, believing that this will give more opportunities and flexibility to all participants for active participation into various sessions.

The conference will include valuable keynote presentations by Prof. Deane Alan Simpson (The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Denmark), Lect. Ombretta Romice (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK),  Prof. Alex Krieger (Harvard University Graduate School of Design, USA), Prof. Nikos Salingaros (University of Texas at San Antonio, USA) and with an Alumni-led Panel Discussion. Virtual city tours will also enrich the sessions, giving attendees an opportunity for digital readings of Cypriot cities and local urban spaces.
